A lack of sleep, but not lacking in fun

Patsy Weekley, the mother of two-time defending Verizon Heritage champion Boo Weekley, will be following her son around Harbour Town Golf Links this week. She is sharing her experience with The Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette with a daily Heritage diary.I woke up in the middle of the night last night and had a hard time getting back to sleep, so I watched the Golf Channel for a little bit and saw Boo on "Inside the PGA Tour," so that was kind of neat.Today was a fun day, because it's always nice to watch Boo play here. I saw a lot of people who came up and told me they saw me playing yesterday or they saw us last year. Like I've said all along, coming here is just like coming back home to visit family. With that in mind, I guess we need to be back next year in the same role.A lot of people say things like I'm a celebrity around here, but that's not how I feel, because that's not who I am. I am how I am, and Boo is how he is, and we feel like we're among friends. It just feels like we're at home. I think that's the reason Boo loves it here so much.Boo played pretty good. He needed a few more putts to go in, but he hit some great shots. The chip-in for eagle from the bunker on No. 2 was really awesome. I think I let out a pretty loud cheer when he made that one, so I'm sure when my daughter watches the replay she'll say she heard me hollering. That was an awesome shot, and that's the kind of shot he's really known for making, especially here at Harbour Town.I guess Boo tees off at 8:20 a.m. for the second round, but that's OK, because I wake up early anyway. That just means I'll watch the Golf Channel in the middle of the night, and then I'll have to listen to it some more when I'm up and getting dressed.
